St. Peter's Bermuda

If you've ever been to Bermuda you'll recognize the iconic front steps of St. Peter's, but have you gone inside and disocvered the incredible story that awaits you there?
The cantors were not only warmly welcomed, but were very honoured to become involved in that great story by celebrating evensong for St. Peter's Day and offering a concert to support the parish and its work. The evensong was followed by a wonderful garden party, complete with a band and Vice-Regal visit!
St. Peter's welcomes visitors and your support: here a few photos to peak your curiosity!

St. Peter's welcomes you! The view from the top of the stairs looks out towards the town sqaure and harbour.

The iconic front steps from the street... but if you're visiting, rest assured there is easier access from the east!

A view to the three-tiered prayer desk/lectern/ pulpit. The box pews are all hand-crafted from famous Bermuda cedar.

Past the pulpit in the liturgical north (left) this view from the organ looks to the east, where the altar is located.

The venerable front doors of St. Peter's, aslo cedar , thought to be the originals, photographed from inside..

The altar, with the Ten Commandments inscribed above.

The Cantors prepare, just before 4pm, with The Right Reverend Dr. Patrick White, Bishop of Bermuda, who attended at his parish for the evensong celebration.

Angus thoroughly enjoyed the new Casavant!

Canon Lynas of the cathdral supported the celebration, along with Dean Peter's wife, Ann Harvey, standing together with Canon Bill.

The Evensong and following party were crowned with a visit by Bermuda's Vice-Regal couple, His Excellency Sir Richard and Lady Gozney. Fr. Bill and Fr. Peter visit with Sir Richard at the garden party.

Sir Richard's and the Bishop's visit included the dedication of the newly renovated sacristy. This silver chalice and paten, unique to the parish, are brought from the vault only on very special occasions.

If you're visiting, don't overlook "New" St. Peter's, and the story that goes with the incompleted gothic church.
