The Cantors are Named Honorary Senior Fellows of Renison
College
January 14th, 2007, Renison College (The University of Waterloo)
Renison's 48th Convocation and Founder's Day celebration
began with a Choral Evensong at The Church of St. John The Evangelist in Kitchener,
welcomed by The Rev. Canon Chris Pratt, Rector of St. John's. Renison's Chaplain,
The Reverend Megan Collings-Moore officiated at the Evensong.
The Board of Governors of Renison College chose this occasion to honour all
four of The Three Cantors by conferring upon them the status of "Honorary Senior
Fellows" of the College. Renison celebrates the Cantors' ministries in the church,
and especially their ten years of singing to contribute to community building
and raising funds and awareness to alleviate world hunger and support sustainable
development through The Huron Hunger Fund and The Primate’s World Relief and
Development Fund.
The Cantors were highly honoured to be thus acknowledged and welcomed by the
Renison community.
It was a particular pleasure hear the citation
read by none other than Archdeacon Peter Townshend, whose idea and vision
got The Cantors' ten years of success underway.
In addition to Peter Townshend, the Cantors took this opportunity to thank every
sponsoring parish or community that has made their concerts possible, The Huron
Hunger Fund and its volunteers who have produced and sold CD's, their own parish
communities over the years who so readily supporting their work, Mr. David Cornelius
of London who has quietly worked behind the scenes organizing bookings, and
their families for their support throughout this ministry.
